The Wind Castle hotel commands an impressive presence in the form of an ancient Dutch-style castle set atop a hill offering stunning views of the surrounding lush green mountains of Nuwara Eliya while facing the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka – the famed Pidurutalagala Mountain (Mount Pedro). The constant flow of a fresh, cool and gentle wind through the mountains is where the hotel derives its name from.
The Wind Castle exudes a calm and relaxing ambiance while encapsulating an opulent, contemporary design where each detail – from the wall decorations and furniture to the ornaments and art collections – tells its own story. The exterior of the hotel remains true to the ancient Dutch-inspired architecture with hand-selected stones gracing the façade of the castle.
The hotel comprises eight spacious and luxuriously appointed bedrooms with attached bathrooms spread over two floors including a luxury suite with a panoramic view. A special feature of the hotel – the ‘Attic’ – offers a spectacular view of its luscious environs.
For the adventurous, several walking paths around the hotel lead to some of the most scenic places in Nuwara Eliya. One of them leads to the ‘Single Tree Hill’ or ‘One Tree Hill’- the 10th tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. Others lead to the Galway’s Land National Park, and the breathtaking ‘Moon Plains’ etc.
The Wind Castle hotel is located in Shanthipura – the highest village in Sri Lanka at an altitude of 7,339 feet -a mere twokilometer drive from the Nuwara Eliya town and access to the hotel is a smooth and easy ride.
